Eurac Research: Inventing Science in a Region

Today, Eurac Research is an internationally respected and globally networked science and research center. But how did this success come about, and what are its future targets and projects? Founded in 1992, 30 years ago, the then “European Academy of Bozen-Bolzano” had to overcome numerous obstacles to find its way. In a rather forbidding environment, it gradually succeeded in firmly establishing the concerns of science, while expanding enormously in terms of personnel and structure. Within these pages, more than a dozen authors and numerous interviews capture what is special about Eurac Research and shed light on this inner-Alpine “luxury place of the mind”.
