Ethics Review Board

Eurac Research is committed to conducting research with respect for the dignity and integrity of humans, animals, and the environment.

Ethical questions arising from research projects will be assessed by an interdisciplinary group of experts, the Ethics Review Board, starting from autumn 2024. Researchers at Eurac Research can approach the Ethics Review Board to ensure that their research adheres to ethical standards. The work of the Ethics Review Board is crucial in ensuring ethical responsibility in research and supporting researchers in the successful implementation of their projects.

The members of the Ethics Review Board are appointed for five years.

    Application

    Application Process

The ethics review process begins with completing the Ethics Self-Assessment. Once this is done, the researcher must submit the full application at least 13 days before the next Ethics Review Board (ERB) meeting. The necessary documents for this submission can be downloaded from the OHB.

After submission, the board will make a decision in one of the following two meetings. Although efforts are made to address applications in the immediate next meeting, this cannot be guaranteed.

It is important to note that only funded projects are eligible for review. The researcher must approach the Ethics Review Board before starting data collection, as retrospective evaluation is not possible.
