Our research

Our interdisciplinary research provides innovative contributions in the field of multilevel governance of migration and evidence-based insights into policy-making and the development of a just and sustainable society.

Rigorous empirical research is at the core of our work. Our research projects focus on integration policies in South Tyrol and analyse their effectiveness and impact on the entire local society. We analyse the role of different local actors in political decision-making processes and examine the perceptions and experiences of South Tyroleans with and without a migration background in their daily encounter with diversity.

Furthermore, we analyse the impact of migration on processes and practices in the fields of education and the economy and try to identify strategies that promote social cohesion and participation for all.

Beyond research

In addition to our research activities, we advise local stakeholders, including local governments and non-profit organisations. Based on our expertise and insights, we work closely with these stakeholders to develop strategies and initiatives that promote social cohesion and economic participation.

Furthermore, we provide training and workshops for teachers, policy makers and other stakeholders to give them practical tools and knowledge to take effective action and better navigate the complex world of migration and integration.

We disseminate our research findings through academic publications and reports (see below), our blog ‘Mobile People and Diverse Societies’ and the webinar series ‘Diversity Matters’.
