The project name is ESPON BRIDGES: Balanced regional development in areas with geographical specificities. Territories with geographical specificities (TGS) will be approached considering their relations and functional interactions with surrounding areas, as well as with the regions, countries and transnational/cross-border cooperation spaces they belong. Thanks to ‘BRIDGES’, partners will enquire whether human and natural resources of TGS are fully taken into account in research and innovation strategies for smart specialisation (RIS3). In addition, they focus on identifying framework conditions that would optimise the contribution of TGS to major European policy objectives such as Single Market integration, promotion of enhanced growth and sustainable development.
