How are intercultural scenarios evolving in urban settings and how do they related to the adjacent rural areas? How do policy makers and the local/international community support the process of “going intercultural” as it presents one of the most effective phenomenon and at the same time a neuralgic component of today´s societal-, economic- and cultural context within a territory? The Program of “Intercultural City” presents a fertile ground for further analysis about cultural trends linked to regional development in South Tyrol. It focuses on the discourse of diversity and inclusion and offers specific “intercultural indicators” which help Cities and Regions to observe current issues and position themselves at the international level. The strengths of an “Intercultural Cities” is to raise the level of trust and social cohesion within the community, to prevent conflicts and violence, to offer the right presuppositions to increase policy effectiveness and to make a city attractive for people and investors alike.
