Orchard Meadow Competition of the Baumgart Initiative

On the search of the most valuable Orchard Meadow in South Tyrol

    • Place: South Tyrol
    • Typology: Orchard Meadow Championship
    • Info:

      baumgart@outlook.it

    What is it about?

We are looking for valuable orchard meadows: A group of at least six fruit trees on a meadow or pasture (possibly also with arable land). All interested owners of orchard meadows in South Tyrol can apply. The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of our traditional orchards for people and biodiversity. A jury will then evaluate the registered "Baumgärten" according to various criteria: The evaluation will be based on the condition of the orchard meadow (e.g. preservation, ecological diversity, aesthetics), its integration into the landscape, and agronomic and economic criteria. In addition, this year there is a very special category: the most beautiful and valuable orchards on public land are sought. Thus, municipalities with their orchard meadows can also register for the championship and be judged separately.

    When does it start?

All interested parties can send the registration form (available Here) to Philipp Bodner at baumgart@outlook.it by May 31.
