Short Bio

Dipesh Chapagain is a Senior Research Associate with the Global Mountain Safeguard Research (GLOMOS) Programme, a joint initiative of Eurac Research and the United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS). Based in GLOMOS Bonn, he is engaged in strategic project development, acquisition, and implementation, with a specific focus on the Hindu Kush Himalaya region, Central Asia, and African.

Dipesh completed his PhD in disaster impacts and climate change attribution from the Center for Development Research (ZEF), University of Bonn, in 2023. He holds over a decade of experience in research and project implementation related to climate risk, vulnerability, and resilience assessment. Dipesh is also a guest research scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA).

Dipesh has made significant contributions through several peer-reviewed articles and reports, including the UNEP Adaptation Gap Reports and the UNFCCC Needs Determination Report. He is a recipient of multiple prestigious fellowships, including the Humboldt research fellowship, Heinrich-Böll doctoral scholarship, and the IIASA young scientists research fellowship.
