Democratic system and territorial integration: the effects and consequences of Catalonia’s quest for independence

Four years after the unilateral declaration of independence, the Catalan crisis continues in a dead end. The territorial tension between Madrid and Barcelona has not eased despite the Spanish government’s recent attempts of breaking the current impasse including the pardon of the former members of the Catalan government convicted on sedition and embezzlement charges. This webinar will discuss the impact that the territorial crisis has had on the democratic institutions both in Catalonia and Spain from a domestic and comparative perspective with the objective of identifying possible solutions to the crisis within the constitutional framework.
