This summer, four master’s students from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University worked as Trainee Researchers at the Institute for Comparative Federalism.

Hanna Gesang, Meya Lee, Jacob Wentz, and Sydney King—the sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth students from SAIS to participate—contributed to various research projects, bringing their unique specializations within International Relations to the table. Each wrote articles for the EUreka! blog, among other contributions.
"It was rewarding to be able to contribute to real research projects on topics I am interested in, like democratic backsliding, media pluralism, and participatory democracy," Wentz said. "Outside of work, spending the summer biking, swimming, and hiking through the Dolomites was dreamy."
Their involvement marks the fourth year of collaboration between the Institute and SAIS, which originally started as an online initiative. This ongoing partnership continues to foster a rich exchange of knowledge, furthering the Institute’s mission and providing students with practical experience in the field of Comparative Federalism.
