Indicators on Inclusion Policies for Old and New Minorities
This research investigates and compares various sets of indicators (e.g. Mipex, MCPI and Eurac-FCNM), as emblematic of a trend in minority and migration studies that focuses on measuring and assessing public policies, generally described as integration policies, multicultural measures or minority protection. Analysis of the differences, commonalities, advantages and shortcomings of these indexes aims at assisting in setting the framework to conceptualize an efficient set of indicators for old and new minorities.
LISI - Legal Indicators for Social Inclusion of New Minorities Generated by Immigration (2003)
Recognizing the importance of social inclusion in Europe today, the LISI project developed common legal indicators, applicable throughout the EU, for measuring the social inclusion of migrants. As the project emphasized social inclusion, the indicators were meant to reflect accessibility rather than obstacles to inclusion. In this sense, the LISI indicators reflect a normative judgment about what constitutes social inclusion; moreover, the indicators can be used as benchmarks by which to measure the progress a country is making on integrating Third Country Nationals into their society.
