Agrotourismus ist eine Diversifizierungsmaßnahme auf dem Bauernhof, um zusätzliches landwirtschaftliches Einkommen zu erzielen. Die touristischen Aktivitäten tragen dazu bei, das sinkende Einkommen aus dem Verkauf landwirtschaftlicher Produkte auszugleichen. Dies unterstützt generell die Aufrechterhaltung der Bewirtschaftung der landwirtschaftlichen Flächen. Die Gäste können den direkten Kontakt mit dem Landwirt und seiner Familie genießen, erhalten einen Einblick in die landwirtschaftlichen Tätigkeiten und probieren landwirtschaftliche Produkte. Die Forschungs- und Netzwerkarbeit des Instituts zielt darauf ab, eine nachhaltige und authentische Entwicklung dieser Art von Tourismus in ländlichen Gebieten zu fördern.
