Migration is often a highly polarizing issue, involving strong opinions and provoking reactions based on political, emotional, economic and historical factors. Furthermore, migration is a cross-cutting issue that brings together not only diverse actors but also appeals to individuals, communities, and entire societies, highlighting the challenges of our changing world.
Debating migration in public discourse, therefore, means engaging with societal change, promoting empathy and understanding for diverse perspectives and challenges, addressing misinformation, debunking myths around migration, and fostering inclusivity while encouraging dialogue among different actors and viewpoints.
This outreach project aims to engage with public discourse on migration at both local and global levels. First, we seek to disseminate the results of our research to non-academic audiences, both in South Tyrol and internationally. Second, we aim to provide a science- and evidence-based resource for public debate on the issue, demonstrating the complexity and multi-layered nature of migration.
We therefore engage with policymakers, journalists, educators, artists, and civil society, promoting participatory approaches.
