Alpine Bodenökosysteme und ihre wirbellosen Bewohner stehen im Fokus des AlpSoil-Projekts. Naturnahe Graslandschaften, die in den Alpen weit verbreitet sind, leiden unter vielen ökologischen und sozioökonomischen Veränderungen wie dem Klimawandel und der Auflassung traditioneller Landnutzung. Wirbellose Bodentiere in alpinen Ökosystemen spielen eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Zersetzung von Streu, Nährstoffkreisläufen und der Bodenbildung und können so zur Widerstandsfähigkeit gegen Naturgefahren beitragen, aber es ist noch wenig über ihre Artenzusammensetzung und trophische Struktur bekannt. Wir verwenden einen breit angelegten Beprobungsansatz entlang von Höhen- und Landnutzungsgradienten, um die Zusammensetzung und Struktur der Gemeinschaft wirbelloser Bodentiere sowie die Verbindungen mit ihrer abiotischen und biotischen Umwelt zu analysieren. Wir verwenden sowohl traditionelle Methoden wie Barberfallen und Wärmeextraktion von Bodentieren als auch moderne Methoden wie stabile Isotope und molekulare Techniken.
