UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. According to its statutes, it aims to "build peace in the minds of men and women" through cultural and scientific exchange. With the UNESCO Chair for Interdisciplinary Anticipation and Global-Local Transformation at the Eurac Research Centre, South Tyrol will now also become part of the worldwide UNESCO network. The Chairholder is the political scientist and Co-Head of the Center for Advanced Studies Roland Benedikter.
In addition to research in the field of future education, the focus is on teaching and the educational mission, among other things in the context of future laboratories, where interested people from all educational sectors, professions and generations can exchange, reflect on and help shape expectations for the future.
Gender and Africa as international UNESCO priorities for the next few years also play an important role in the local processing of global transformation processes.
