Open Day LIDO "Smart irrigation & water stress sensors" at Laimburg Research Centre

14 companies, start-ups and research institutes, including our Centre for Sensing Solutions, implemented their innovative technologies on site at the LIDO open-air laboratory and demonstrated them this week at the specially organised Open Day.

The focus was on intelligent irrigation systems, with the presentation of sensors to measure soil moisture, water stress, etc. The system presented by our Centre combines photos acquired from a phenocam, and environmental data on soil moisture and temperature from sensors installed in the ground beneath the plants, transmitted through a LoRaWAN network. The data are collected in a dedicated dashboard and are also cross-checked with satellite data to provide a broader view of the health and irrigation status of the orchard.
