PACS - The role of migrant labour for the resilience of essential sectors

The role of migrants in essential sectors such as health, long-term care, agriculture and logistics received wider attention during the COVID-19 pandemic. This project studies migrants’ work in essential sectors of selected European regions and how they contribute to their resilience. It explores the interdependence with regional policies, including specific measures during the pandemic (e.g. mobility restrictions). The project's ultimate objective is to provide empirical insights that allow policy makers to raise the resilience of essential sectors in future crises.
