The “Supranational Mechanisms for Minority Rights” (SUPRA-MIN) project will conduct research and prepare training materials to advance the use of minority rights as a tool for stabilization, dialogue, and advocacy. The overall goals of the project will be to study and promote minority rights mechanisms at the supranational level in both the UN and European framework, with a particular emphasis on building and promoting expertise on legal mechanisms. Within Europe, there will be a regional focus on accession countries such as Armenia, Moldova, and Georgia with the plan to offer training to their justice, education, and media sectors among others. At the international level, research will be conducted on the supranational legal mechanisms and transnational politics affecting minorities and minority rights. There will be a strong stakeholder element with the plan to prepare training materials/modules, for example, for judges and prosecutors as well as public administrators, journalists, and educators. Another dimension will be fostering interactions between states and international governmental organizations with minority representatives, advocates, and NGOs.
