The Marche Region has presented its Regional Climate Adaptation Plan (PRACC) for approval to the regional council, marking a pivotal moment in its ongoing efforts to address the impacts of climate change. The PRACC is a comprehensive and forward-looking strategy designed to enhance resilience across the region by addressing key vulnerabilities in health, natural resources, agriculture, and the territory itself.

Our research center is proud to have been one of the key partners in the development of this ambitious plan, alongside renowned institutions such as Fondazione CIMA (lead partner), Università Politecnica delle Marche, and other contributors to the AdriaClim project, including CMCC Foundation, CNR-ISMAR, and ARPA Emilia-Romagna.

Key Features of the PRACC include:

  • Cross-Sectoral Governance. The plan is supported by an operational governance model that unites expertise from multiple sectors to ensure a comprehensive approach to climate adaptation.
  • Scientific Rigor. Leveraging contributions from a multidisciplinary team, including our center, the PRACC integrates advanced climate modeling and scenario analyses to provide a robust scientific foundation.
  • Broad Participation. The plan was shaped through an inclusive process that engaged stakeholders, citizens, and experts. Our center’s input ensured that the strategies addressed the region's specific challenges and opportunities.
  • Targeted Adaptation Actions. The PRACC outlines concrete measures grouped into two categories:
    • Transversal Adaptation Actions to build the foundational capacities needed for implementation, such as knowledge generation, data availability, and training.
    • Specific Adaptation Actions to address vulnerabilities in environmental, social, and economic systems, aligned with well-defined adaptation objectives.

As an integral member of the scientific team, our center contributed to shaping the plan’s methodology, risk assessment, and proposed interventions. This collaboration reflects our commitment to advancing climate resilience and supporting regions in building sustainable futures.
