A planning tool for Smart City projects
The SWOT analysis is a planning tool that is useful to highlight the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats before the projects implementation. It involves the identification of the internal and external factors that are favorable and unfavorable for a given project. Strengths and weaknesses are defined as so-called “internal factors”, while opportunities and threats are part of the “external factors”. The SWOT Tool generates an outcome in a form of a SWOT matrix that describes the most important issues for each SWOT section: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. These numeric indications will help the SWOT Tool user to understand whether the implementation of the analyzed smart city project might proceed rather smoothly or would be rather difficult
Development
The SWOT tool has been developed within the framework of the Smart City project SINFONIA aiming to transform Bolzano into a smarter city by reducing emissions in certain parts of the city, introducing new technology for monitoring, and augmenting interaction with its inhabitants.
