L'agriturismo rappresenta un'attività di diversificazione sull'azienda agricola per generare un reddito agricolo supplementare. In questo modo, le attività turistiche aiutano a compensare la diminuzione del reddito derivante dalla vendita dei prodotti agricoli. In generale, questo sostiene il mantenimento della coltivazione dei terreni agricoli. Gli ospiti possono godere dell'interazione diretta con l'agricoltore e la famiglia, farsi un'idea delle attività agricole e assaggiare i prodotti della fattoria. La ricerca e il networking dell'Istituto mirano a promuovere uno sviluppo sostenibile e autentico di questo tipo di turismo nelle aree rurali.
