SummerTrans is back!

Translation theory meets translation practice: challenges and opportunities in a changing world

The ninth edition of the international summer school SummerTrans will take place in Bolzano/Bozen from 21 to 27 September 2025 under the theme “Human vs machine translation with a focus on legal translation”.

The world of language mediation is changing. We all face new challenges but also exciting opportunities. The seven-day programme of the summer school includes courses in English or German, social events, a round table and a PhD school, bringing together experts and teachers from European universities and institutions to reflect, exchange and discuss about the new developments relating to theory and practice in translation, interpreting and terminology. The focus of the next edition is on legal language.

The summer school is designed for professionals in the fields of translation, interpreting or terminology working in public institutions, private organisations or as freelancers. It is equally aimed at students as well as teachers and researchers in these fields. There is also a IATI Young Researcher Award for PhD students.

SummerTrans IX is organised by the Institute of Applied Linguistics of Eurac Research and by the Department of Translation Studies at the University of Innsbruck under the auspices of the International Academy for Translation and Interpreting IATI, with the support of various sponsors.
