SummerTrans IX – International Translation Summer School

The popular international summer school SummerTrans, founded in Innsbruck in 2004, offers top-class courses on translation, interpreting and terminology. Each SummerTrans edition is guided by the idea that theory meets practice and that exchanges and discussions enrich our knowledge. The next edition, SummerTrans IX, takes place in Bolzano/Bozen from 21 to 27 September 2025 and centres on “Human vs machine translation with a focus on legal translation”. Courses are held in English or German by teachers from different European universities with extensive research and teaching experience in current topics.

SummerTrans IX is aimed at professionals in the fields of translation, interpreting or terminology working in public institutions, private organisations or as freelancers, students and young or not-so-young researchers in these fields. A PhD school will help young researchers discuss their ideas and methods with experienced professors and researchers as well as with their peers. A dedicated social programme will make sure that participants meet and mingle enjoying their summer school.

The ninth edition of the SummerTrans is organised by the Institute of Applied Linguistics of Eurac Research and the Department of Translation Studies at the University of Innsbruck under the auspices of the International Academy for Translation and Interpreting IATI. Several sponsors support the summer school.
