# Energy retrofitMulti-family house, Bagnolo in Piano, Reggio Emilia
Development of a multifunctional retrofit toolkit including different components (ICT, BEMS, HVAC, BIPV and Envelope Technologies) that cooperate to transform an existing building into a smart building.
Building type
residential/multi-family house
Facts
& Figures
* Calculated by comparing total primary energy consumption of the building including HVAC system, lighting and appliances before and after renovation – Conversion factors to primary energy used are reported in “DM 26/06/2015 – All1 – Tabella 1”
** Calculated as renewable fraction of primary energy (from PV production and from grid) on total primary energy after renovation
The role of Eurac Research
Our researchers contributed by numerically simulating the HVAC system of the demo case and by reviewing the market solutions to spot potential compatibility issues, by defining the information available from HEART's platform, and by screening the best business models for the exploitation of the project’s results.
Implemented technologies
High-efficiency centralized heat pumps
smart fan-coils connected to the heat pumps (DC-HP), BIPV, PCM thermal storage of approximately 3000 litres
4 kWh battery pack connected to the DC-HP, renovation of the windows and insulation of the opaque envelope on façades and roof
Interview of Marco Corradi ( President of Acer) and Ercole Finocchietti (Technical Manager in Acer) about expectations for social houses and explaination of HEART system.
